Addiction is so poorly understood that anyone at work who may be exposed to someone with an addiction can benefit from gaining a better understanding of what it actually is.
DESCRIPTION
Addiction is one of SA’s most prevalent types of mental illness. In this 4 hour workshop you will learn to understand it as a mental illness. As such, you will identify how best it can be managed in the workplace.
What will you Learn?
- What is addiction?
- Alcohol and other types of addiction
- DSM (Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Illnesses) classification.
- How to recognise the signs of alcohol and other substance use disorders.
- Co-existing mental illnesses.
- Intervention including management in the workplace.
- How to address and reduce the stigma of addiction.
