People with medical conditions can still work and ought to be allowed to. This includes those that have suffered spinal injuries, loss of limbs and traumatic brain injuries. Those that suffer from depression, bipolar disorder and PTSD. Those that have cancer, auto immune disorders and kidney disease. My expertise lies in managing disability in the workplace therefore assisting employers in keeping their work force intact. Over and above the undertaking of assessments, I also facilitate workshops to assist employers in understanding the impact of mental illness on their work force. Workshops are undertaken at conference venues, in-house at employers’ premises or on-line by means of Zoom.

Understanding and managing mental illness in the workplace
Unfortunately mental illness is still poorly understood and often surrounded by prejudice, ignorance and fear. Many employees are reluctant to admit they suffer from a mental illness and their behaviour is therefore often misinterpreted by management and colleagues.
With the World Health Organisation (WHO) currently predicting that depression will be the second highest cause of morbidity by 2020, it is surely time for employers to address the epidemic.
I conduct a 4-hour interactive workshop for Disability Claims Assessors, Human Resources personnel, Managers and Supervisors in any work environment.
Understanding and Managing Burnout
Burnout was accepted as an “occupational phenomenon” by the WHO in May 2019 and will be listed as such in the next ICD edition to be published in 2022. Do you understand this condition and the effect that it might be having on your workforce? It is definitely real and a great deal more complicated than simply excessive work demands.
I present a 2-hour seminar that will provide you with the insight required to manage it in your workplace. You will be provided with a toolkit than you can use to measure it’s impact amongst your employees and in turn enable more effective management.
Stress Management in the Corporate World
Stress levels in the corporate world have never been higher, and associated with this is an alarming increase in the number of suicides worldwide as reported by the WHO. Unmanaged stress leads to depleted resilience and a host of mental and physical problems, which include depression, anxiety, hypertension and diabetes to mention but a few.
Having worked in the field of mental illness for the past 30 years I am now facilitating an on-line Stress Management workshop specifically designed for people in the corporate world. The workshop consists of two sessions each being 2 hours in duration and you attend from the comfort of your own home or office by means of Zoom.
Topics included are the following:
Session 1:
- Understanding stress and identifying the causes in the workplace.
- Lifestyle management to optimize resilience.
- How to communicate with and relate to others more effectively.
- Q & A.
Session 2:
- The power of being assertive.
- Challenging negative, catastrophic thinking.
- Time management.
- Q & A.
